What I'm Getting At Is, Screw You AJ

Watching the Boofmeister hurl 7 innings of 1 run baseball followed up by Stone Cold Joe Nathan closing out the 9th, I couldn’t help but think back to perhaps the most lopsided trade in the history of the Twins franchise. Let’s look at this season’s win shares, to see just how lopsided it has been.

Through September 4th:

Boof Bonser: 3 Total Win Shares
Joe Nathan: 15 Total Win Shares
Francisco Liriano: 16 Total Win Shares

Grand Total: 34 Win Shares

Now, Mr. AJ:

10 Total Win Shares.

Now, I’m not a rocket scientist but I believe that we’ve made out pretty well on our end. Not that this is anything new to those who follow the Twins. Seeing these statistics, however, still lends some shock value through the exposition of how concretely AJ can go screw himself. Certainly, with the return of Liriano and the continued effectiveness of Bonser, this margin will do nothing but widen over the course of the season. Keep in mind, this is only for the 2006 season. When all 4 player involved in the trade have hung up their spikes and gone to the golden dugout in the sky, I imagine the discrepancy in win shares will be astronomical. All bow down to Terry Ryan.
